Removr strengthens its leadership team with Alex Bell joining as Chief Growth Officer

Oslo, 3rd of February 2023

Removr, a Norwegian company that develops solutions for removing CO2 directly from the atmosphere, has appointed Alex Bell as Chief Growth Officer.

Mr Bell was previously  CEO and co-founder of Agoro Carbon Alliance, a major U.S.-based agricultural carbon offset firm initiated by Yara International.

As Chief Growth Officer, Mr Bell will be responsible for Removr’s revenue generation and growth strategy. This includes commercial agreements and support the development of long-term partnerships across the carbon capture ecosystem. Mr. Bell will also has the overall responsibility for Removr’s U.S. initiatives and for building the brand globally.

“We are proud to have Alex joining Removr. Alex’s passion and track record in the carbon removal industry will be essential to our mission of scaling Direct Air Capture and reducing global warming. Further, he brings substantial leadership and scaling expertise from the U.S. which, considering recent regulatory initiatives such as the Inflation Reduction act (IRA), is emerging as a highly attractive carbon removal market,” says Einar Tyssen, CEO of Removr.

Removr’s proprietary technology is based on zeolites that capture CO2 molecules in microporous beads. The technology has been used for decades in the space and petroleum industries, and its application to Direct Air Capture (DAC) has been proven through four successful small-scale pilots since 2016. The uniqueness of this technology lies in it being water-free, low energy use and able to capture CO2 from low concentrations levels,  down to atmospheric concentrations.

“To reach the 1.5-degree target, we need permanent, immediate, additional and measurable carbon removal from the atmosphere and DAC is a key part of that. Norway is a perfect starting point, having captured CO2 commercially since the 1990s. I have been impressed by Removr’s industrial expertise and its far-sighted seed investors. There’s a lot of work to be done and I feel privileged to be part of building Removr and contributing to establishing this critical sector,” says Alex Bell.

Mr. Bell brings 15 years of experience in leadership, entrepreneurship, sales, marketing and public affairs from organizations and companies including the European Union Chamber of Commerce and Yara International. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in History and from the London School of Economics with an MSc in International Relations. Mr Bell will be based at Removr’s HQ at Lysaker, Norway.
